I'll admit, I wanted to read this considering Elle Kennedy wrote The Bargain. Yes, it's a different genre, but I do dear these suspenseful novels, so I dived in.

I'll admit, I wanted to read this considering Elle Kennedy wrote The Deal. Aye, it's a different genre, but I practise dearest these suspenseful novels, so I dived in.

Midnight Convict is a standalone novel and is book half dozen in the Killer Instincts series. In that location is some slight overlap from the previous books, simply Elle does a great chore in re-telling that I was never lost. In this series, she kind of writes like J.R. Ward. There'south a main story and there's a side story with two secondary characters. It's a trivial foreshadowing for the side by side book. I actually liked this because the adjacent one will be a M/One thousand read. But I digress.

Bailey is no damsel in distress. She'due south trained, strong and was once an agent. She can disarm a man in seconds and doesn't need anyone controlling her. Let'southward recap. Sean and Bailey had a crazy wild night. So Bailey was dating Sean'due south twin, Ollie. Sean has a matter for Bailey and when Sean shows up at Bailey'south forepart door, Bailey thinks he'southward Ollie and they accept sexual practice.

Bailey finds out subsequently and you know how information technology goes. So it's 5 years subsequently and Bailey sees Sean in the news. Sean is robbing a bank!

But not everything is what information technology seems.

I was really intrigued with the get-go. I was wondering why Sean is robbing a bank? Does Bailey really not know information technology was Sean she was sleeping with? Will Bailey forgive Sean?

It picks up around the 30% mark and a lot of questions were starting to get answered. The book shifts and all of sudden Sean needs Bailey, it'southward a matter of life or death.

Bailey grees and she has to pretend to be Sean's girlfriend! Oh how awkward, yet how fun! Of course in that location'southward lingering feelings. Of course there's tension and of course it's really good to read. Sean still cares for Bailey and he tries to button her away, only he's feelings are very strong. Bailey wants Sean, but she'southward tired of dating men that control her. She's her own woman.

I won't get away until I know everything well-nigh you. I won't go away fifty-fifty when I do know. I'll always be here, and you will allow me in

Running abroad isn't going to change what this is. You can hibernate from me, but nosotros both know it won't work, Bailey. Because I'm with you even when y'all're alone.

Midnight Convict is full of activeness and plot twisting moments. This is the first book in the series I've read, but I assume a lot of the characters are from previous books. I liked that fifty-fifty though I oasis't read the series, I could follow along hands. And so much happens in this book. At that place are a lot of things Sean has to do that Bailey doesn't concord with and it adds a lot of drama.

Midnight Convict is an action-pack, slightly suspenseful read. It'due south fast-pace, engaging and a little steamy.

Bailey Jones is ticked at Sean Reilly ever since they slept together months agone. Yes, she's attracted to the irresistible, and incredibly sexy Irish operative, just Bailey doesn't get for the cocky, dominant sort of male Sean is. Plus, he went to bed with Bailey under the impression she thought he was Oliver, his twin. Bailey actually knew he was Sean, but still. So, yes, she's still pissed, only that doesn't cease her from dropping everything to come to Sean' aid when he's seemingly involved in a bank robbery.

Sean could care less about IRA politics, but his father's old gang blackmails him into joining up once again by kidnapping and holding his twin brother, Oliver captive. Oliver is his only family and Sean would do anything for him, so he'southward stuck in between a rock and a hard identify which is made even more complicated when Bailey barges in insisting on helping. The last thing he wants is for Bailey to be in danger, too. He cares for Bailey and has been hung up on her for years, but he feels like he ruined everything with their oh-so-hot, just disastrous nighttime together. He can't become her off his mind, but doesn't want her anywhere most the thugs Sean's got to deal with now. But Bailey isn't a caught woman, and she needs Sean to realize she can take intendance of herself and be an nugget.

I loved Midnight Captive! Every bit usual the story was zippo but excitement, danger and twists. Of course the smoking hot romance was a big part of why this story volition send you pulse racing! Hot, hot, hot!! Sean and Bailey's romance was full of pent up longing and hurt on both sides, but there was no mistaking these 2 were meant for each other. No ane else could push each other'south buttons like they did, and when Sean and Bailey were in a room together there was no mistaking the uptake in heat and sexual tension. I can't stand love triangles, and then I was a little worried that there would be i with Oliver, Sean, and Bailey. I was relieved to that wasn't so. No love triangle.

I appreciate that Elle Kennedy makes her women simply as badass as the men whether information technology's fighting or covert operations, they're all a force to reckoned with! Both Noelle and Jim's coiffure (which are all comingled now that the two are married, yay!) are loyal to the core. When one'south in trouble the others rally and rush to aid. And so not only does Bailey come to Sean and Ollie's aid, a adept portion of the coiffure come besides.

I'k sad to take finished Midnight Captive because now my series binge read has come to an end, and I accept to wait until February for the next Killer Instincts novel! While Sean and Bailey have a squeamish, very satisfying catastrophe in that location are other romances in the works. It looks similar we finally go Derek's story next in Midnight Revenge, simply Liam and Sullivan'south has been brewing through Midnight Activity and Midnight Captive. I'm wondering if their romance volition be resolved in the next book or if they'll get their own story? At that place were also seeds planted for Cate (Morgan's daughter) and Ash, the new rookie of the squad. I'll say a prayer for Ash because anyone dauntless enough to go afterward Jim Morgan's daughter will need it, lol!

Bailey Jones and Sean Riley were introduced in the last book when the group was aiding Morgan in the rescue of his daughter Kate. Bailey was hostile to Sean because Sean impersonated his twin brother Oliver and slept with Bailey. So Bailey didn't desire annihilation to do with the man deceived her past pretending to be someone else. I volition admit that I was slightly annoyed because I was expecting Sully and Liam or at to the lowest degree Derrick's story. Merely I gave this story a fair shake. I enjoyed it less that Morga Bailey Jones and Sean Riley were introduced in the last book when the group was aiding Morgan in the rescue of his girl Kate. Bailey was hostile to Sean considering Sean impersonated his twin blood brother Oliver and slept with Bailey. And then Bailey didn't desire annihilation to practice with the man deceived her past pretending to be someone else. I will admit that I was slightly annoyed because I was expecting Sully and Liam or at least Derrick's story. Simply I gave this story a fair milk shake. I enjoyed it less that Morgan and Noelle's story only it remained consistent in plot, execution and romance.

In the kickoff, the grouping finds out that Sean is back in Ireland robbing a bank with his sometime NRA crew and Bailey decided to become to Dublin and rescue Sean. Bailey had some issues with Sean, simply she felt obligated to find out why Sean would resort to something as reprehensible equally robbing a bank.
In addition to Bailey, Morgan sends Liam, Sullivan and somewhen Isabella for support to extract Sean.

Upon their arrival, Bailey learns that Sean's twin Oliver was beingness held hostage and as leverage to go Sean doing whatever he was instructed. Before long Sean establish himself caught in the middle of a decade old leadership feud.

I had a trouble with Bailey. I found her to be a coward and a hypocrite. It was revealed very early on on about the circumstances regarding that faux out the night Bailey slept with the man who was calling himself. Information technology was clear that Sean carried a heavy corporeality of guilt and continually apologized but Bailey never passed up an opportunity to needle him about it. She had so many opportunities to acknowledge her own role in the fiasco simply Bailey let Sean take total responsibility for it. I liked Sean. He was sweet, reliable, and patient. Bailey could have had a good man if she but could admit information technology to him.

I didn't intendance for terrorist story that much, but it allowed the reader to get some background information on Sean and twin brother Oliver (5 mins apart). Information technology also showed that Sean was a good human who cared about others but wasn't used to people caring nearly him. Bailey was secretive and full of double standards. She was merciless to the man she would acknowledge inside her caput that she wanted. Sean was steadfast in his desire for her. Bailey admitted that Sean pursued her before she went out with Oliver. I just didn't like her simulated righteous indignation human activity.

The writing remained consistent in this book and the pace was fast. At that place was a lot of action and at that place were sexy times likewise. While the writing was good, I just didn't actually care about the couple since they felt new to the gang.

My favorite part of this story was learning that Noelle is at present a Morgan and the Sully-Liam interludes. What a nice gear up up to their book. I am looking forward to Derrick's volume as information technology has been a few books in the making. Then hopefully the Aussie and Boston will get their time to smooth.

Well I accept been missing out because conspicuously Elle Kennedy is awesome. I take institute a new series to obsess over. Afterward reading Midnight Captive I know I am going to have to get my hands on the rest of the series. This volume is activity from beginning to stop, with great characters, and steamy romance. You really tin can't ask for more.

Bailey is a strong woman and I loved her for that. She doesn't need anyone to accept care of her and she prides herself on that fact. She is kickass and tough and sarcastic and a great graphic symbol. At times I wanted her to open upwardly a chip, but I got information technology. Her life hasn't been easy and you tin can't blame her for being the way she is.

Then there is Sean and holy crap is he to die for. He is potent and smart and impulsive and caring and sweet in his own anarchistic way. He is alpha without being an asshole and clearly he is devoted to Bailey. I really liked the role reversal here. Sean wanted Bailey and wanted more than in terms of a relationship…. Bailey was the one who kept running from the attraction. And dayumm the emphasis he has is just *sigh*. I besides loved watching Sean go cranky because for whatever reason it made me laugh. Sean would try to protect the people he cares most by not involving them in his issues, but then they wouldn't have that and smacked him with a ton of nope, Sean would then go exasperated and cranky and I would chucked. Bailey especially pushed his buttons like this and I loved that.

Bailey and Sean have some serious chemistry. Those two go from fighting to well… you know…. in about three seconds and damn if it wasn't incredibly hot. Their allure is off the charts and they are so proficient together. They make such a deadly couple and that idea makes me irrationally happy. I loved these two.

This volume was absolutely addictive. It was so hard to put downwardly. I kept turning folio after page and just when I idea I was coming up on a stopping signal, something else would happen that would continue me turning pages. The action is crazy and I loved watching Bailey and Sean be all kick ass. I mean Bailey snapped a guy'southward neck with her bare hands at one point… it was awesome.

Midnight Captive was a crazy good read and I cannot wait to make time to go back and read the rest of this series. There are so many characters I need to get amend acquainted with now and I'm actually bummed I didn't discover this serial sooner. So if y'all haven't started this serial even so, yous should join me in my newest obsession.

You may or may not call up that time terminal month when I sabbatum aside every other book I needed to read and review and rampage-read Elle Kennedy'due south Killer Instincts series. I practice. Very well. It was the first time I realized simply how much I LOVE romantic suspense when information technology'southward well-written. And, my friends, Elle Kennedy writes FANTASTIC romantic suspense.

Midnight Convict is exactly the kind of fast-paced, edge of your seat action I've come to look from Elle and the Killer Instincts series. I actually liked the characters. Sean was Alpha and Irish and all kinds of hot. He was also in some serious problem in this book. Bailey was feisty and fierce. When she stepped in to help salvage Sean, I cheered. I couldn't wait to see these ii together. And boy, I wasn't AT ALL disappointed. They had loads of sexual chemistry and the banter between them was great. In a twist from the usual in romance, it's Sean who goes subsequently Bailey with all he has... and Bailey who isn't looking for a relationship. I loved watching him slowly scrap away at her walls.

At that place's only and so much adept well-nigh this book (and the series as a whole). I find myself completely wrapped up non only in the main characters and the dynamic between them, simply in the phenomenal secondary characters. (Who, I hope, one solar day, will all become principal characters in their own book.) There are so many dissimilar types of relationships explored in this series and that, combined with the action, makes this series totally unputdownable to me.

Ok, I'thou non going to tell yous what happens in the epilogue of this book. I'm merely going to say that I am Withal in full on freak out mode over the thought of what's to happen to a graphic symbol I've really grown to beloved during this series. (The writer's Twitter response well-nigh how I was going to hate her when I saw what he got himself into is also a HUGE cause for business.) I've watched this character grow – and have flipping amazing sexual chemistry with another guy in this series – and I demand a adept resolution to his story. Then yeah, as much as I'm anticipating the adjacent volume (and freaking out because it's sooooooooo far away) I'g as well really nervous to read it.

But you know what? That'due south a sign of a damn good romantic suspense series.

Fiery sparks, emotional angst and smoldering passion consume the reader as they get defenseless up in the dark and edgy passion that flows from the pages as Bailey and Sean fight their way through a deadly game of survival equally well as their explosive romance. The attraction between Sean and Bailey sure isn't a problem as there is certainly enough sparks to fix off a nuclear explosion but trust is a major issue in this relationship which leads to some pretty antagonistic clashes betwixt the two. The fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers on the edge with lots of suspense, activity and passion while the strong compelling characters concur them hostage from the very beginning.

There is never a deadening moment equally the Sean and Bailey become caught between two major bad guys and the danger escalates adding lots of excitement and tension to the story and then for additional spice Liam and Sullivan take some turbulence between them that could possibly ruin their friendship equally neither knows how to handle what's happening between them. The well written scenes and details pigment brilliant images that places the reader right in the middle of all the activity while the well-orchestrated events ensure that the readers can't put the book down.

Warning: This book contains some serious issues to be resolved, lots of sizzling passion, sparks flying in every management and explosions not to mention some tough as nails, kick donkey characters that get the adrenaline pumping and they certainly guaranteed that I would be dorsum for more than.

The action continues throughout the book as Sean is forced to work for Rabbit O'Hare. The stakes increase when some jostling for power occurs and Sean is approached by Rabbit'southward enemy, Flannery.

Wow. This volume was action packed. I but could non put it downward. Not simply practice we get to watch our atomic number 82 couple finally autumn in honey, we also go a piddling Liam and Sullivan action as well. At that place are as well updates the reader on the previous couples in the serial.

The romance aspect was well done. Sean and Bailey have a history and Sean was a little underhanded in his pursuit of Bailey. Sean pretended to exist his twin Oliver and managed to sleep with Bailey. He is torn by that action and has never admitted to Bailey what he had done. Both characters acquit emotional baggage from their childhood. They have to work difficult on their relationship. The sex scenes were hot.

Midnight Captive was an exciting read, perfect for summer reading. If you are a fan of romantic suspense, check out this series.

Quick & Dirty: Thrilling and captivating novel in the Killer Instinct series. This series continues to stay great with each installment.

Opening Sentence: "Being a hermit isn't healthy, y'all know."

The Review:

Midnight Captive is a "captivating" and thrilling installment in the Killer Instinct series. I couldn't have asked for a meliorate follow up to Jim and Noelle's story. The Killer Instinct series has be my favorite consistently awesome contemporary romantic suspense series that I am currently reading. I'chiliad not a huge fan of contemporaries but this series is one I definitely recommend.

Bailey Jones is enjoying a much needed vacation when she sees something startling on TV, a bank robbery. Normally, that is something that she wouldn't pay much attention too but when she recognizes Sean Reilly'south voice and posture as one of the robbers, she knows something is not right. Bailey ends her vacation early on and heads to Dublin, Republic of ireland to go the story behind Sean's new job choice. Bailey really has no reason to drop everything for Sean. She holds a grudge towards him always since he pretended to be his identical twin brother and they slept together.

Sean is fifty-fifty more baffled past Bailey'due south appearance as much as he wants her there he needs her to leave. He is beingness blackmailed only he's got it handled. Now, Bailey has just added more than complications into his program. Sean's past has come dorsum to claim him. He has no want to get back to the Irish Dagger but with death hanging over anybody'due south heads that he is close to. He has no option but to aid them and their agenda. Sean ends up being a pawn in a deadly game played on two sides.

Bailey calls in aid from several members of the Morgan/Noelle team. We go to meet some favorites with D, Liam and Sullivan. Also, the Liam and Sullivan relationship dips into more awkwardness. I'thousand actually enjoying the mind games between these ii but I tin can't believe Liam did what he did. He is having enough problems with his allure towards Sullivan and he crosses the line like that… oh my. At that place are multiple POV'southward including Liam, Sullivan, Sean and Bailey.

Sean will non make information technology like shooting fish in a barrel on Bailey. He knows the kind of attraction they share and he does everything that he can to testify how well they are together. Sean is an alpha male person and that scares Bailey. She is done with men thinking they are in charge of her and so she pushes Sean abroad. Bailey would rather exist solitary and so give in to Sean. Bailey is a kicking-ass woman but she does take her emotional problems. All, I can say well-nigh Sean is yum. Plus he'south got the wonderful Irish emphasis to kicking.

There are a lot of secrets and lies in Midnight Captive. I was actually surprised by some of the revelations. I figured it would be the standard fare only it wasn't and that I why I loved this story then much. In that location was merely one thing most this story that I felt was a flake of a letdown and that was because I figured Bailey'south past would exist more than of a trouble. Emotionally it was but information technology was Sean'due south past that really came into play with this novel.

Overall, Midnight Captive was an awesome read. It was funny, terrifying, shocking and even held a few surprises. This novel could exist read equally a standalone merely I don't recommend it. Become to know all these wonderful characters by starting from the outset. You'll enjoy Midnight Convict then much better because of information technology.

Notable Scene:

"It's belatedly, then why don't nosotros get right to the betoken?" Sean slid of the couch, similar a lazy cat with no care in the earth. "I'm non apologizing for breaking into your safety eolith box. I had my reasons and I stand by them." He smiled. "I'm also not going to return your property."

Flannery'due south answering smile was indulgent, genuine even. "Is that so?"

"Oh, that is so. Very, very so." Sean marched upwardly to i of the bodyguards, and with lightning-fast speed, he grabbed the guy'due south rifle.

He didn't disarm him, though. Bailey's breath hitched when Sean brought the muzzle of the gun to his own forehead.

"Get ahead and order your man to shoot." Sean was speaking to Flannery, but his gaze remained locked on the optics of the human being with the gun.

Sweet Jesus.

Sean Reilly was insane.

Adjacent-level, cuckoo-crazy insane. Bailey fought to control the fear racing through her bloodstream as she watched the collision in total astonishment. The bodyguard was equally confused as she was, his gaze darting to his boss as if to say, What the fuck do I practise?

"Come on," Sean coaxed in a low, soothing voice. "Practice it. Tell him to pull the trigger. You're not going to get what you want from me, and then why waste anybody's time?" He pressed his brow into the gun barrel. Calm, defiant. "What are you waiting for? Kill me."

This has go one of my most predictable romantic suspense serial! This has become one of my almost anticipated romantic suspense series! In times when I thought the genre but couldn't pull me in as earlier and there wasn't anything that stood out, Elle Kennedy has a talent for writing characters that pull you in no affair where the story goes. Of course, it helps that the stories usually keep me flipping pages equally fast equally I can.

I first roughshod in love with Sean and Bailey in MIDNIGHT ACTION and have been impatiently waiting for their book considering of their history and their bantering! And let me just say they did not disappoint. This book starts off with Sean made seem like the bad guy and Bailey wanting to go aid salvage his ass from maybe going to jail.

Their fire continues to abound the more time they are stuck spending together and while they solve a predicament they are in. Simply what I loved the most was the fact that as much equally both of these characters are and then kicking ass, they both showed a softer side. With their past, with their faults, and they both had enough courage to admit to those things and open up to the other. They were merely and then perfect together!

My only complaint with this book was the lack of communication between Sean and his blood brother that kept him thinking he was in the wrong for pursuing his feelings for Bailey. I think Sean would've been even more than aggressive had that been off the table and with no misunderstandings.

It's been a while since I've pulled an all-nighter reading a volume, and MIDNIGHT CAPTIVE was one of those. I started the book belatedly 1 dark and couldn't put the volume down no matter what my optics thought about information technology. The story kept me riveted with the fast paced storyline and the sizzling chemistry between Sean and Bailey was, as always, off the charts. I can't wait to meet who's next and where this series goes! Merely I know one thing for certain, this is definitely not a serial that volition be dying downward any time soon because it merely continues to go better every time!

Perchance ii.5 stars. I tin can't actually say I even liked the overall story because Bailey's continued fashion of comparing Sean to the men in her past. It got annoying and I wanted it to stop. The suspense was pretty decent but I simply observe it abrasive how an author has to create that type of conflict in the story betwixt the hero and heroine. It's tedious and makes for a very frustrating read. I don't desire frustration when I read a book.

Of grade, there was also the ick cistron (view spoiler)[of Bailey sleeping with a homo 28 years her senior when she was xviii. That was kinda gross. Did it lessen my opinion of her? Not actually, because I already wasn't a fan of hers. It was just icky. (hibernate spoiler)]

I loved Sean, on the other hand. I think he deserved amend than Bailey. It wasn't a matter of him not thinking Bailey couldn't take care of herself. Information technology was that he loved her and didn't want annihilation to happen to her. Bailey could never see that. I guess because she had nothing to compare it to, but that simply added to my frustration. Sean may accept used his fists when he was upset virtually something but never, never, with Bailey. That is the big departure right there.

So, I can't say I loved this book and I accept to say that heroines similar Bailey and some of the other chameleons are not my favorite. Information technology's not that I want a spineless wimp of a heroine but I want one that doesn't mind her man taking care of her every now and and then. :)

Its a book well-nigh Bailey Jones, ane of the girls from Noelle'south squad and Sean Reilly, one of the wonder twins(LOL!)

Sean had joined Jim Morgan's squad and then Bailey sees Sean robbing a bank in his dwelling house town and is certain that something is non right. She jumps in with her instincts and she is not far from being right.

Sean is stuck. He doesn't care about the IRA politics but they accept his twin, Ollie and he has to do what they say. And and then Bailey jumps in so does his friends from Morgan'south team. He is not used to and then much support and love and he becomes overwhelmed.

From the synopsis itself nosotros can make out that Sean and Bailey accept history. And that confuses Sean and he keeps thinking that Bailey loves his twin and there is a bit complexity. Bailey doesn't know if she should trust Sean who is the gang's member now. She has her ain trust problems as well and she always resists to enquire for aid due to her own past. Together with flaws how they take downwardly the gangs is amazing to read.

Information technology is a great novel with the mix of suspense, mystery and romance! And slap-up side story and characters.

Elite assassin Bailey Jones has done everything she tin to forget her one hot night with Sean Reilly, especially after he tried to pretend to be his twin brother to get together with her. Try every bit she might, though, Bailey tin can't finish how hot and bothered she gets just thinking most Sean. And so when Bailey figures out that Sean is function of a depository financial institution robbery in Ireland, Bailey knows something is upwards and drops everything to go help him. Sean doesn't want Bailey's help, though, especially if information technology ways putting her in danger. Also bad Bailey isn't the kind of girl who needs protecting…

Start off, I loved Bailey'due south character and then much. Every bit a female assassinator, she'southward got to accept some backbone, and Bailey was definitely not the dryad in distress kind of girl. Bailey can take care of herself and volition do anything to protect those she cares near. I loved how useful she was to Sean and how much she actually helped to get him out of trouble. Information technology was fun to see how impressed they were with each other'due south under cover skill and how they really started to like each other more and more for reasons that went across their undeniable chemistry.

Of class, it wouldn't be interesting without some animosity between our two main characters. Bailey tried then hard to push Sean abroad, merely how tin can anyone resist someone as tempting as Sean? Information technology was so sad when Sean would push Bailey's buttons because she was hurting him on purpose, likewise. Ugh! Just be with each other! It'south what you both want! So while they were frustrating, it just made you want them to get together that much more than.

If yous tin't tell, I loved Sean and Bailey's story not merely for the passion merely for the activity besides. There were some centre pumping moments and I definitely didn't know how they were going to go out of each mess they got themselves into. Every romantic suspense fan has to bank check out Elle Kennedy'south Killer Instincts serial. With hot assassins and seriously sizzling chemistry, you definitely won't be able to put them down!

And then, Bailey is watching Tv set when she sees Sean involved in the robbery of a Dublin bank. She rushes to rescue him only to find that Sean is playing piggy-in-the-eye with ii Irish gaelic gang lords, ane of whom has abducted his twin Oliver. I really enjoyed the suspense story as Sean and Bailey tried to play one off against the other but I didn't actually feel the romance.
